Sensimed AG developed a novel solution to continuously monitor intraocular fluctuation for up to 24 hours. The SENSIMED Triggerfish® system consists of a soft, non-invasive contact lens which encapsulates a telemetric sensor. The external system consists of an adhesive antenna worn around the eye attached to a portable recording device.
The design and development of the product was accomplished by Sensimed. Valtronic’s worked with Sensimed to provide a quality product and to improve the manufacturing process for industrialization. Sensimed had a launch date that required working under very tight deadlines.
Our team of mechanical, electronic, process and quality engineering experts combined their knowledge and understanding of the customer’s need along with our established methodologies and procedures to produce the product in a specific medical zone in our clean room. Valtronic also needed to qualify the clean room as well as the production equipment for validation. We developed an optimized production flows and adopted the full process according to GMP and ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 standards.
Strict planning and project management was crucial as well as close and pro-active collaboration with the customer due to the restricted timeline and product complexity.
The project provided Valtronic with additional experience in a very complex process of high precision silicone encapsulation while Sensimed benefits from a high level industrial partner applying high quality standards and processes.
The result was a successful and on time launch for the customer while Valtronic was rewarded with additional work and is now in charge of producing the lenses and well as the external antenna device for Sensimed AG.
Stay tuned for updates on the project as we begin the next phase.
